We've got a lot we're going to talk about today, mostly news, that is in the headlines as of today on this Monday edition. And, we will jump right to that here shortly.
Paul and Barnabas faced severe persecution and opposition to Gospel preaching
We're in Acts, chapter 13 this week. Acts, chapter 13. Looking at verses 48, through, 52. 48, 52 in Acts, chapter 13, the last four to five verses here. Now, when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them from the region. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them and came to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. And so from this, there's a couple different takeaways, but the one I want to point out today is that, obviously the early church, including Paul and Barnabas, faced severe persecution and opposition to the preaching of the Gospel. And, here they were run out of the city and they were expelled from the city and from the region as a whole. but it says in the next verse, they shook off the dust from their feet against them and came to Iconium. But, they didn't only just shake off the dust, but they were also filled with joy and filled with the Holy Spirit. And so as believers, when we face difficulty and challenges and opposition to righteousness, we too ought to not only move on from it, but we also should maintain our joy and the Holy Spirit, with the Holy Spirit as well as Paul and Barnabas did when they experienced opposition. Acts chapter 6, 13, verses 48. 52 was the section we just read there.
My parents will be leading a group to Italy in 2027
Well, speaking of Paul, we're going to be going on a Footsteps of Paul trip coming up in March of 2027. And also my parents are going to be leading a group to Italy. those are back to back trips, but they're separate. So if you want to do one or both, you're welcome to do so. Those trips are in March. So first we'll be going, to Greece. We'll be going to Greece March the 9th through the 16th. March the 9th through the sixteenth. And then my parents will be going to Italy March the 15th through 23rd of 2027. So these are, the Italy trip is somewhat of a break from Israel. My parents have been leading trips to the Holy land for nearly 30 years and have taken thousands of people to the Holy Land. But they're taking one year off from that just because of the various conflict and the fact that we kept having trips delayed and canceled and all kinds of stuff going on with the war, which is outside of our control obviously. And so for 2027 they're going to be going to Italy and then hopefully, prayerfully, we will pick back up our trips to the Holy Land the next year, which would be 2028. so if you want to go with us to Greece on the Footsteps of Paul trip, or if you want to go with my parents to Italy and uncover the Christian heritage in Italy, you can do that. both of those trips are in March. Socialists of America continues to attack America with latest attack on landlords
Well, the Democrat, Socialists of America just are continuing there to make their rounds in the media, talking about their platform and their positions and all the things that are wrong about America. And they basically, what we're beginning to learn is that they basically want to overthrow America as we know it today and create their socialist utopia that will end up being a very, very bad place to live, for a lack of a better word. And so this is a pretty fascinating clip here. Last week we talked a little bit about some of their, you Know some of their talking points, how violent they are, how they want to overthrow the quote, American empire. some of them are talking about taking up arms, going to the streets. It's a very violent movement. And we've actually got a latest left wing attack out of New York City this morning that we'll talk about in a little while. But this is the Democrat, Socialist of America co chair there in New York City. He was on with Martha MacCallum, talking about the evil of landlords. listen to this comedy, skit that's not a comedy skit, but it's serious. Should be a comedy skit. This is going to be clip one.
>> Socialist: The problem we're facing in our housing system is that we talk about tenants and we say they have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. they have to be responsible financially. But when we look at the landlords, we don't use those same standards. Landlords in New York have been making a, 12% return on their investment for on average, what should they make? What's fair for the landlord to make if you don't like 12? They're complaining that 12 is not enough. And we don't think that anyone should have a constitutional right to double digit returns on their investment. That's why we've implemented no one should have a right to a double digit return on their investment. No one has a right. That's not, no, no one's in, that's not in the Constitution. But we, what we see is that when we implement a rent freeze, we have landlords who are crying, that the government is going to put them out of business, run a business.
>> Walker Wildmon: Actually they, they do have a right. And this is where the, the lack of, of biblical knowledge comes into play here. And of course the Bible was used to build America as we know it. We don't have the bell of rights and we don't have our common law and the constitutional framework without the Bible. But so let's do a quick lesson on that. Technically, people do have a right, to earn a return on their investment. It's called economics, it's called capitalism, it's called free enterprise. And the ability, to earn a just living with your hands, and with your money and with your investment is a biblical concept. And so, yeah, people actually do have a right to earn a return on their investment. They actually do have a right. and the government and you socialists shouldn't be interfering with that because then you would be trampling on their rights. and let's just talk. Obviously the whole thing's lunacy. So where do you take this? Right, but let's talk about the complaint over a 12% return on your investment for a minute because that one was a whopper. It's like that's the number you want to pick on to make your best case that we don't need landlords in New York City or we should limit their return on investment. A, 12% return on investment for a landlord in New York City is measly. That's terrible. I wouldn't do it because you can go invest in the s and P500 not risk free, but deal with a whole lot less headache than these New York City landlords and get a 15, 20% return on your investment. So 12% is measly. I wouldn't do it for 12% and the 12% return on your investment. And I know debating the 10%, 12%, 15% is totally beside the point here because the reality is, is these people, these Democrat socialists, they don't like, they don't like capitalism at all. They don't like profitability at all. They want the government to run everything. So, it's somewhat of a rabbit trail to argue over the percentages. But nonetheless, my point here is, is that the New York City landlords aren't even making enough. They're not even making enough 12%. Are you kidding me? So the 12%, by the way, and this is what the socialists don't factor in because they're not truly knowledgeable on the facts surrounding how a free market works. But if you've got a landlord making a 12% return on their investment or an investor making a 12% return on their Investment in rental property, number one, the free market allows that to work itself out. So if somebody thinks that somebody's quote, making too much money, well, that's very subjective, by the way. Very subjective. But secondly, the free market will work itself out if somebody's charging too much for a service and you can get it more affordably somewhere else. Well, more power to you. That's called capitalism. so all of this stuff about so and so making too much money and tax the rich and all this garbage, it's all completely subjective. And Martha MacCallum even asked this guy like, okay, if 12% returns too much, what number do you say? Well, double digit. He shouldn't be making double digit. Okay, 12% measly. And let me explain why a, ah, 12% return on your investment doesn't Factor in taxes. And the taxes in New York are insane. All right, so they're going to take 30% to 40% off the top of your 12%. Okay, so now you're getting down to what? Now you're down below double digits. Now you're down into like 7 to 9% in my. I'm not doing math, don't take this to the bank. But now you're down below double digits from 12% to 7 to 8%. That's just on taxes, federal and state. And then that doesn't include any overhead, any administration, any management, any repairs, any insurance, any liability. Alright, so this notion that somebody making a 12% return on their investment in New York City is quote, too much is just on its face, completely laughable. It's completely laughable. And I'm actually surprised people are wanting to do business with only a 12% return in new York City. And this is probably why they have a housing problem. I played the clip last week of the rental rent prices going up, the housing shortage in New York City. Well, you know what fixes this? Free marketing? Capitalism. Do you want to know why? Because where there is demand, guess what? People will invest, they will build. Why? Because of the basic law of economics that we all learn in econ101 and it's called supply and demand. And our system of the economy that by the way is one of the best ever, ever to be ever to be tried in human history. This form of free market capitalism that we're running, it meets all these needs on its own. It runs itself. And so one of the reasons that New York has a housing problem and these people are moaning and groaning about high rent prices is because not only are the investors and the Landlor being taxed into oblivion in New York City, but also the regulations, they're overregulated. And so it's actually the government that is in part causing this problem in New York City to where rent prices are going through the roof. And so this is what Democrats do, they're notorious for this. They break things and then claim they're going to fix it. And the fix is always more government and less freedom. More government, less liberty. And of course more government doesn't fix anything.
Democrats and socialists coming together to destroy one of America's greatest cities
And so that's the game here. All right, the game here is that Democrats have been running New York and specifically New York City for three decades and they, they are breaking things by the day. The Democrats are. And then they're more extreme version, the Democrat socialist of America, they come in after the damage done after the city is ravaged, it's bankrupt, it's going upside down, mom dummy is begging Albany, New York for money. And then they say, we need more government, we need more regulation, we need more taxes. You get the cycle here. You get the cycle. And so this is what's going on. This is the new wing of the Democrat Party. And they, the one thing I will give them credit for is that they are honest. They are honest about their path to destroy America, are in their word, in their words, to bring down the American empire. These are their words. And so that is the one thing I will give them credit for, is that they are saying what they believe in public. So we can't, we're not guessing, we're not trying to translate, we're not trying to string a bunch of things together and create some theory. This is what they want to do. And, New York City's exhibit A, this is the, the melting pot, if you will, of, Democrats and socialists coming together to utterly destroy one of America's greatest cities, New York City. And they think that getting a 12% return on your investment is somehow evil. Shouldn't be allowed. I feel bad for the landlords in New York City. I feel bad for the investors. This is a sad situation for free market capitalists that want to improve human conditions. We'll be back.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez suggested Senate was founded on racism

Alexandria, Ocasio Cortez, a congresswoman out of New York, she's notorious for saying things that just don't make sense. And, this was one of those. And it's like, before I play this, just set this up in your mind. the Democrats are. They're somewhat robotic. And when I say somewhat robotic, when they forget what to say, they revert back to a log of actions in the past. All right? Or things they've said in the past. And so it's like this halfway broken robot. And then it's just not figuring out what the commands are. And so it just starts spitting out stuff it said in the past. And so this is basically what some Democrats, including AOC have resorted to. And that is, they get stuck, with trying to articulate their positions because they don't really know what they believe. And so they revert back to keywords and buzzwords like Marx, like, racist, homophobe, bigot. And then Jim Crow is like top three in the Rolodex of words to say when talking about anything. America's founding Constitution, maga. they love saying maga, Republicans. And, so here we are. This is Alexandria Ocasio Cortez talking about how the Senate was supposedly founded on Jim Crow a couple hundred years apart. Let's listen. Call to abolish the U.S. senate. The new York Democrat repeatedly declined to reject the plan. And when I pressed her on whether she supports the institution, Ocasio Cortez suggested elements of the Senate were racist. I don't support the filibuster. I don't support, elements of this institution that we know, you know, were founded on. On, on, Jim Crow. Those comments here in the Senate drawing sharp criticism. Well, there you have it. So this is, this is news to me. I mean, Bobby, I did not know that Jim, Crow was a thing in the 1700s. This is. I mean, maybe I was misread on the history, but, it's. It's quite a stretch, might I say. She's only off by 100 years. Yeah, exactly. The Senate was based on that. Yeah, exactly right. 1789, which is in the U.S. constitution, by the way. The U.S. senate. folks, this is where. And see, it used to be in the American politic that these type things were, things you either had to apologize about or you were just disqualified from the onset from leading after saying things such as this. All right? And so, as you know, the US Senate, well, maybe you don't know, AOC didn't know. So here's a lesson for us all. the U.S. senate was established during the Constitutional Convention in Ah, 1787. All right? And so, that's the history. Jim Crow didn't come around until 100 plus years later in American history. but this is one of those examples of there's these keywords and they've probably run the studies on this. I don't doubt that the Democrats know what they're doing when they use buzzwords like Jim Crow. And they abuse them by the way, because there's nothing funny about Jim Crow, there's nothing humorous about racism or some of the sins of the past in America. But what I would say is infuriating is how loosely the Democrats use these terms. And they get away with it. And when I say they get away with it, they keep getting elected. But now we've gotten to a point because the Democrats, I guess they figured out this works of how to demonize, how to isolate, this gets back into Saul Alinsky. How to demonize, how to isolate, how to dehumanize. All right? And they use the, they go back in the logs of American history and they of which, half of which Democrats are responsible for by the way, when we're talking Jim Crow, if we want to talk Jim Crow, and we want to talk, segregation.
Charlie Kirk: Democrats have plenty of talking points they can use against opponents
Well, let's talk about the Democrats, all right, because their, their party champion those things for a long time. but they have this rolodex of like 5 to 10, like key insults that they can lodge at their political opponents. And whether they're true or not, that's completely beside the point. And how dare you even bring that up. Whether the insults are true or not, it doesn't matter at this point. They throw them out there and then they know how to defend themselves. And when they do have to defend themselves and we'll actually play a clip of a Democrat having to answer a question about what they're talking point and then not really knowing what to say. Then they get stumbled over themselves and then they throw out things like the US Senate was established on Jim Crow and then they just keep walking. It's like, wow, is this where we are in America? And apparently it is. And so, the AOCs of the party, the Democrat Socialist of America. Folks, this is the new Democrat Party, brought to you, by the old Democrat Party. Why do I say that? Because President Obama, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have done effectively nothing to stop this radical Marxist undemocratic element from rising to popularity, rising to electability within the Democrat party. Now granted, this isn't a national phenomena. This isn't a half the country likes these people. That's just not the case. Now there is a large segment of young people that do very much sympathize and like this socialist rhetoric. That's a fact. I mean look on American scholars campuses, the studies show that a large portion of younger people do somewhat sympathize with this socialist ideology. Maybe not in full, but at least in part. And this is the danger in the continual demonization of capitalism in America. And honestly, some of this comes from the right, so to speak, or the conservative elements, within the Republican Party. And what I'm saying, what I mean by that is this perpetual and some of it comes from the conservative or right wing podcasting world. But this perpetual the economy isn't working for all the young people, unaffordability crisis, capitalism bad. Some of the populist elements give credence to these talking points. there are some things that are true about what is being said from people who are disgruntled about the American economic system. It is true. You know, for example, if you want to rant and rave about America's debt crisis, I'm in 100% agreement. I think the going on 40 trillion, and yes, I said it will be at 40 trillion probably within the next six to nine months. The 40 trillion in debt that America owes. That spending problem has fueled persistent inflation that is chipping away at American wages. but that's not just a young people problem, that's an American economic problem. It doesn't matter what age you are. And then we could get into the rise in housing cost, home ownership costs, things like that, the delay in people getting into their first home. But I'm hesitant to, to spend too much of my time complaining about the present, complaining about, you know, the, the system. And it's just the, the talking point that they give of the system's just not working. Well, that's a very broad statement. The quote, system's just not working. What are we talking about? Let's talk specifics. And this is what a lot of these movements fail to do is they fail to actually talk specifics because if you start breaking down their grievances one by one, you can start picking apart their false arguments. And I sympathize with young people that are getting out of college and they've got a degree in something that nobody's hiring for, and they've got no family assistance, no family help. They've got to have 50 to $75,000 down payment cash to get into their first house. you know, yeah, this life can be tough sometimes. But the correct and the biblical approach is to, number one, if you don't like how something is going and working or not working for you, then work to fix it. And so I'm all about that. And this is where you get movements like Charlie Kirk. This is where you get movements like Turning Point usa. You got young people that don't like the trajectory of the country. They don't like abortion on demand. They don't like 40 trillion in debt. They don't like government overreach. They don't like, agencies within the government that aren't even constitutionally established. So what are they going to do? We're going to run for office and we're going to change it. And so I respect that. But what this has resorted into when this is where it goes wrong, this grievance movement that has some credibility, not full, but some, has morphed into a burn it all down mentality. And this is how you get the Democrat socialists of America. And so you've got this hodgepodge of issues that voters care about, that young people care about, that they're experiencing in life. And instead of working to truly fix it and really restore what our, American founders envision this country to be like, they just say, you know what, let's just light a match and let's just burn it down. All right? And I can tell you 100% the light a match and let's burn it down and we'll just see what comes out of the ashes is an extremely unwise and unbiblical approach to the issues of our day. But this is where we are, and this is how you get the Democrat socialist of America. And capitalism has brought about a tremendous amount of human flourishing, an extremely uptick, an extreme uptick in the quality of life for the American people and people around the world. We've exported tremendous amounts of wealth around the world, brought tremendous levels of other countries up out of poverty because of their economic relationship with the U.S. and so this capitalism is evil. you know, investors shouldn't earn 12% on their, investment, 12% return. And all of this bashing of capitalism, bashing of the free market is completely unmerited, completely unwarranted. And what they're not telling you is the tremendous amount of blessing and prosperity that has been brought about through this system of capitalism that we have today.
80 some percent of Americans favor requiring voter ID, 71% of Democrats favor
But speaking of Democrats, and I alluded to this earlier, but the Save America act, which is one thing that would solve a lot of our problems in America, that President Trump's, continually trying to get passed in the US Senate and the House of Representatives. It's actually already passed the House multiple times. The Senate refuses to take it up. But nonetheless, Senator Warner was on, CNN talking about, the SAVE act. And when questioned about his view of the SAVE act and the fact that Virginia actually doesn't have voter id, he just really didn't know what to say. Listen to this.
>> Sen Warner: No idea. To register. To vote. To vote. Is this something that Democrats should get behind? We have very. 80 some percent of Americans, 71% of Democrats say they favor this. You know what, in Virginia, we have voter ID and photo id. I gotta show my.
>> ABC News: That's actually not the case. I mean, I'm a Virginia voter. You don't need to show a photo ID in Virginia. you are. There are wide range of things you can show for id, and if you don't show one of those, you can sign an affidavit saying those become ballots that if you want to contest later, can be contested. But you are have, you do have a variety of documents, but we have voter ID of one form or another. Should that be a national standard? You have to show an id. Are, you. The irony here would be the case if you can show any photo that is government stamped would be fine. Certain states will say, we're going to let you show your, NRA gun license, but you can't show your student id.
>> Walker Wildmon: That was actually on abc. Jonathan Karl asking Senator Warner about voter id. And of course, listening to the Democrats try to explain why voter ID is a bad idea is very, it's very comical. This is a very comical thing to listen to. And, and so he tries to claim, oh, Virginia's got voter id, Virginia's got photo id. And even ABC is like, no, they don't. I live here. Carl says, I live here and we don't have photo id. And then he's like, well, you can do an affidavit if you don't have a photo id. And then it's like and then you can appeal that. How convoluted does it have to be? This polls very well by the way, which is, it's quite bizarre that we can't get our lawmakers or we know why they won't, but nonetheless, this, this photo ID polls very well. We're talking, we're talking 70 to 80% among party lines, across party lines, approval for photo ID. So this is not a controversial topic. I guess it is amongst the Democrats. but they, they've pretty much said as, as much that if, if we are able to put the SAVE act in place and you actually have to use an ID to vote in federal elections, that they're going to lose a lot of elections, that those are their words. I, I don't know how drastic it would be. We'll just have to see. But the problem is, is that the Democrats are running these massive, very sophisticated ballot harvesting schemes. Much of it is just outright cheating. There's anomalies and then there's cheating. Much of it is just outright cheating. You can see what happened in California with the mayoral race in la. But the Democrats, this is why they're afraid of the SAVE act is because they love having the ballot harvesting in their back pocket should they need it. they love counting votes three weeks after election day should they need it. And they don't want anything done to correct those. We'll be back.

>> Dr. Dave Jones: Oh, thanks for having me on, Walker.
>> Walker Wildmon: Well, Dave, tell us a little bit about your background, how you got into marketing and writing and strategic planning, and, then we'll jump into some of your latest work.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: Sure. I was a professional hockey player who, left playing hockey and found myself on a curb in a city I'd never been in. I was completely lost. Didn't, have really any mentors at the time, and just kind of struggled my way through life like most of us do. I happen to bump into a Christian mentor who introduced me to Christ. And And And so the journey began, started M is Good, and, through a prayer and back in November of 2001. So if I went from a. From a hockey guy to a Christian marketing guy overnight. And And so, So praise God. The. The organization M is Good has been around for the last 25 years. So, through my studying and just really trying to. Trying to be the best version of myself, Walker. I really just turned to academics and trying to understand what motivates us. And through that journey, I was able to uncover these toxic motivators that drive us. And I know you were talking about the Democrats earlier. some of these toxic motivators are more prevalent and and some people than others. And. And I do say that we all struggle with at least two of these, every single day. So the. The top toxic motivators are fear, lust, anger and pride. And you know, so we. We struggle with these. And my book Plan the Win, which is just being released this week, is coming out where we really identify what the enemy is. So I, I've come out of a. Of a, you know, a. A professional hockey background. And I look at the enemy that's out there or the opponent in hockey and say, okay, what's our opponent doing? And if we study film, we understand our opponent, we have a chance of winning, a better chance of winning. And I look at the adversary that's out there, that's, that's playing this game against us every single day. And it's just, you know, playing with our fear, our lust, our anger and our pride.
Dr. Dave Jones has a new book called Plan to Win
>> Walker Wildmon: Dr. Jones, once again we're talking to Dr. Dave Jones, founder of M is Good. He's also an author and has a brand new book coming out, Plan to win. let's break down the book. I mean, obviously it's coming out so we don't want to read all the pages. But as far as whetting our appetite here, what is obviously is this book written to Christians and Christian business leaders and Christian organizations? Obviously the Christian principles are applicable to the world entirely. But what's your target audience, if you will, for this book?
>> Dr. Dave Jones: Yeah, I would say that it's for Christian organization leaders. so the full title is Plan to win. How to manage your fear, lust, anger, pride while building your Christian organization. And so anybody can pick it up. But I think if you understand that there's, there's, you know, there's intelligent design, that you were created in the image of God to do great things and you want to become the best version of yourself to glorify the Lord with your talents and your abilities, then this book is for you, you know, and so there are certain, certain things that get in our way, you know, and you know, if you don't have fear, like if you're in fear, then you don't have faith. Right? It's, it's hard to be in. Some would argue that you can't, you can't do both. and so, you know, we always look at lust as sort of a taboo topic. you know, lust, you know, we look at porn is, you know, some of that, you know, lust. But lust comes in different forms. Lust comes in areas of lust for people, power and possessions, you know, and we, we just crave that. And so that dopamine hit that we want versus the opposite of lust is, is giving and, and loving, you know, people and others. And then anger. You know, we see this in sports all the time. People get angry.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: you know, for no reason, or they take a dumb penalty. And we see this why we love sports so much, where it's you know, we can see this anger come out. but the opposite of that is, you know, forgiveness and patience. And then of course the Bible talks about pride, you know, replacing pride with humility.
>> Walker Wildmon: You know, sports with your sports background. This brings up, something that I think about pretty often as a, I was a, a high school athlete and now I coach my boys baseball. But the, there's so much, so much truth that can be learned through athletics and through sports and through competition that sometimes I think it's almost under underrepresented or under addressed. And that is how much good comes from sports when done properly. And I know there's, there's this, you know, trend of, of idolization when it comes to sports. You can quote, overdo it if you will, but, but kids, especially young people, just can learn so much. And I think this is one of the more pure frustrations with the NIL and the new college athletics that it's morphed into is not that we're, not that people are opposed to. I say we're because I'm, explaining my viewpoint. It's not that we're opposed to people making money. That's the free market. That's, you know, working with your hands. That's capitalism. That's fine. I think it's more so that it's becoming more than just about learning life lessons and thinking about others before yourself. And it's m. Morphing into this self motivated, arena, if you will, for lack of a better word. And so talk about that and how sports can be used obviously for good, for good life lessons, for personal development. but also it can be abused as well.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: Well, I think, you know, it can go in any direction. when you're, when you're talking in that sort of lane, you know, like, yes, sports can be used to glorify the Lord. I kind of look at as a bigger picture of how am I developing as a person so that I can become the best version of myself one day. We want to hear the words well done, good and faithful person, you know, and so servant, well done, good and faithful servant. And so when we look at that and we go, okay, what am I doing now? That's going to glorify the Lord. And through that there, you know, Walker, as we know there's, there's peaks and valleys. You know, it's all, it's mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, we can say I'm doing awesome on the peak and we can glorify the Lord. But what about in the valley? What about when you lose that game? What about when you don't sign that contract.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: I don't know how old your kids are, but you said you're coaching them. You know, I think that a lot of times parents get in the way of that too. You know, with competitive end sport of getting in the way and living vicariously through their kids, you know, that, that can be a problem too. But, you know, I think that whether we're at work, whether at play, you know, understanding these toxic motivators are prevalent and they're coming after you. That's the first thing that I bring out in this book, is that you gotta be aware that fear is driving you or that lust is driving you. That's the first step. So whether we're playing baseball, hockey, football, or we're leading the Christian organization, what is really motivating us? You know, is it the empathy for the team or is it for me to drive my fear, my lust to get something over you, through you?

Dave Jones: Getting better after failure or difficulty takes consistent humility
let me ask you this, Dave, on the topic of excellence, because, obviously God, is perfect. He's the author of perfection. He has, you know, excellent design, if you will. When you look at his created order, it's just mind blowing, how perfect God's creation is and then enters the fall. But nonetheless, how do you coach that? How do you teach it? Because you go to like a golf course and this is a very good hands on visual example, but you go to somewhere like Augusta national, you know, the week of the Masters, and as a human, you look at that even if you're not a believer, and you go, this is perfect, like meticulous. Everything is perfect. Which automatically establishes that there is a standard of excellence and perfection. But how do you teach that? How do you teach excellence?
>> Dr. Dave Jones: So I have a working definition of excellence that I've used over the years. And that definition is doing the best that you can with the current resources available to you in the moment. M. Like, you're right, it's not perfection. I was fortunate enough to go to the Masters in 22 and it was. You know, the air does change when you walk, when you walk in there, man, and it's pretty cool. But there are things that go wrong inside the Masters that they have people in place to fix it immediately. Like something as simple as somebody takes a shot out of the, out of the bunker and there's sand everywhere, there's a team to clean it up so it looks perfect. Even Though it's not. And so that's what I think is a misconception out there, is that we, we tend to want the things to be perfect and they're just not. But you can be excellent. You can do the best that you can with the current resources available to you in this moment. And you can always come back and say, you know what, I did the best because I thought of and executed to the best of my ability. And it may not be good enough, but. And that's okay. That's that valley we talked about. We glorify the Lord in that. And we come back, do a post game debrief and go, how do we get better? How m. Can we make this better for us and others around us?
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, that last point you said about getting better after you've experienced failure or difficulty, I think that's a, that's, that's something that, if you can learn it and repeat it, then that, that's, that's one of the elements to victory. Because one thing that I know every human struggles with is stagnation and settling for less, if you will. but to your point, going back to the drawing board and working on improving yourself or your business or your organization, that takes consistent humility. You're consistently having to admit that you don't have it all together, which goes against pride. And so that seems to be like a recipe that, if you can figure that out, to have humility. And in your book, talk about countering the pride, that seems to be part of the element for success.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: One of the stories in the book I bring out, I heard Micah Jordan do an interview and he said, you know, he was talking about failure and success and he said, I've never failed. I was like, here we go. Here comes the narcissistic Micah Jordan. Like, I've never failed. But then he backed it up and he said, I've always looked at things that I didn't do well as an opportunity to get better. And I love that. I love that. Because now it really isn't about failure. It's about trying and adjusting and doing it over and doing it over. Trying, adjusting and doing it over again and just, just keep on that cycle.
>> Walker Wildmon: Yeah, because the failure, the word failure by definition sends a signal that, that it's like ultimate defeat. Like, this is over.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: Yeah.
>> Walker Wildmon: There's no more reduce. Right.
>> Dr. Dave Jones: Yeah.
>> Walker Wildmon: And, and, and ultimately there is either success or failure from a spiritual standpoint, once you, meet Jesus, who is the ultimate judge. But while we're living out this Life to your point, there's always room for improvement. That's what we call the sanctification process. And so this notion of failure, can be used at times to disable you from bettering yourself in the future. we've been talking to Dr. Dave Jones.
