Whenever I hear the federal government is going to give something to someone I reflexively clutch my wallet. Because the federal government doesn’t generate money in its own right. So whenever they “give” something it always comes from you and me, the taxpayers.

The Biden administration has signaled that it will introduce a gradual tax increase to help “pay for” his spending initiatives, including Covid stimulus payments.

How would Americans feel if they knew the stimulus payments they may receive today will only be followed by increases in their federal income taxes tomorrow?
