During an interview on MSNBC’s “All In,” House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn argued for special exceptions to the filibuster rule in the U.S. Senate when it comes to civil rights legislation.
He specifically said, “Protected classes are treated specially… the filibuster ought not to apply to benefits and other issues surrounding protective classes.”
What does that clear the way for folks? The Equality Act.
The U.S. Senate will see a push to skirt the filibuster and pass the Equality Act because it seeks include sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes in U.S. Civil Rights law.
