During the preliminary hearing in the Ahmaud Arbery case, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Richard Dial revealed Travis McMichael used a racial slur after three blasts from his gun left Arbery dead in the streets of the Saltilla Shores neighborhood in February.

Based on his review of the evidence he testified Ahmaud Arbery was the only  party who legally attempted self-defense.  Special Agent Dial said,  

Mr. Arbery's decision was to just try to get away, and when he felt like he could not escape he chose to fight.
