Maryland officials have uncovered a massive identity theft scheme involving more than 47,500 bogus unemployment claims worth over $501 million, following the passage of federal Coronavirus aid.

 

State officials became suspicious, upon noticing a surge in out-of-state claims.

 

U.S. Attorney Robert Hur said people were using “stolen personal information to fraudulently attempt to obtain unemployment benefits.”

 

In spite of this and other massive fraud attempts, what is currently being debated in the White House… passage of Phase 4 legislation for more Coronavirus stimulus spending.
