Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a new Religious Liberty Task Force in the Department of Justice to defend religious freedom.
In his remarks, Sessions mentioned the Southern Poverty Law Center as a threat to religious liberty, suggesting the new task force may investigate or target the regressive smear group.
Sessions said, “One group actively targets religious groups by labeling them a ‘hate group’ based on their sincere beliefs.”
He continued, “a dangerous movement, undetected by many, is now challenging and eroding our great tradition of religious freedom… it must be confronted and defeated.”
