The state pursued legal action against Cathy.
California Superior Court Judge David Lampe ruled in Cathy’s favor saying, “It is an artistic expression by the person making it that is to be used traditionally as the centerpiece in the celebration of marriage. There could be no greater form of expressive conduct.”
