Preborn has helped save 38,000 babies this year through donations
>> Bobby Roza: I want you to picture this. Her name is Kayla. She's 17, alone, terrified and pregnant, sitting in a clinic, tears blurring, thinking abortion is her only option until she was offered a free ultrasound, paid for by a hero just like you. The moment Kayla heard her baby's heartbeat, the decision was made. And today, her little boy Gabriel is thriving because preborn walked with Kayla every step of the way. Now multiply that by 38,000. That's how many babies preborn has helped save just this year. How many mothers preborn has come alongside with practical and spiritual resources to make, motherhood possible. But here's the most important thing you will hear today. Their goal Is to save 70,000 babies and by the end of the year. And they can't do it without us. Every $28 provides that ultrasound. The moment everything changes, will you be the reason the next Kayla chooses life? The reason Gabriel fulfills his destiny. To donate, dial £250 and say the keyword baby. That's £250, baby. Or donate securely at, preborn.com afr that's preborn.com afr

Rick Green discusses redistricting per America's Constitution
>> Rick Green: Welcome back to Core with Walker Wildmon and Rick Green. I'm at Green, America's Constitution. Coach, thanks for staying with me or joining me, I should say. Hopefully you'll stay with me after our breaks today. Anyway, thanks for joining me on this Thursday. looks like the Texas Democrats that, fled in the middle of the night. Okay, maybe it was the middle of the night. They did that before, though. you know, went off and hid. Couldn't do their job, couldn't handle the defeat that they were about to be handed and of course, took their ball and ran home. Well, they finally came home, essentially. You know, we said this from the beginning. Essentially. It was a, you know, just a comedy of errors on their part and just embarrassing for them as Texans to flee the fight. And, we knew it was going to end up exactly where it is right now, which is, right back in another special session. House passed its redistricting map. Senate, apparently. I don't know if they're talking about making, any changes or if they're gonna go ahead and pass the House map because the House was the tougher fight. That was the one that had, the fleeing, hiding, sniveling, brats running off to prevent the vote. but enough of them got wrangled in and, they got the vote done. So I think the Senate will probably pass it today. For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about, this is the fight for redistricting in Texas. That would make the Texas map for the House seats in Congress probably yield an extra five seats for the Republicans in Congress. Now that you know, the backstory on that we've talked about on the radio program a lot, but we may have some new listeners. So just the 32nd. Have I ever done anything in 30 seconds? I think I have prepositional phrases way longer than 30 seconds. There's no way I could give a recap on this in 30 seconds. That was dishonest. I shouldn't have said that. Okay, so I'll try to do it in 30 seconds. How about that? so anyway, redistricting is what happens when you draw the maps to decide where the lines for a congressional district will go, or a state House district or your county commissioner. It's just basically deciding your voting precincts, which district they go into. And you, and you have to do this everywhere because you got to decide where the lines are going to be. If you've got 10 congressmen in your state, you've got to decide which, you know, where the population's going to be, where it's even in all 10 states. So if you got a, you know, 10 million people in your state and the district has a million people in it, you're going to have to draw lines so that a million people fit in each of those districts. And it's. It's never easy enough to just draw some square box in a city, or just say these cities will be in this district and those cities will be in that district, because then it would all be uneven, and you'd end up with, you know, 5 million in one district and 100,000 in another district. And that's not equal representation under the law. So anyway, redistricting has been part of a constitutional republic from the beginning, and gerrymandering in redistricting has been part of this republic from the beginning. Cause Elbridge Jerry's the guy that started it, and he was, you know, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. So nothing new here. The trick here is the interesting part of this is Republicans are just, just now catching up. Like the Republicans in Texas that are gonna redraw these lines and draw them in such a way that they end up with five more Republicans, seats than Democrat seats or than they had in the previous map. they're just catching up to all of these Democrat states that have been doing this for years and years and years. In fact, the Democrats in Texas did it to us, to the Republicans back when I was a Republican. And, that was one of the biggest, biggest fights, that I saw was right when I was on my way out. Redistricting was just happening in 2003, and it was a massive battle back then. And the Democrats did the same thing. They ran off and hid in Oklahoma that time. so anyway, this is just all about figuring out what the maps are going to look like. And it looks like Texas is a done deal. Governor Abbott said he's going to sign the map when it gets done. And so that will have. That alone. Just Texas redrawing the lines will have a big effect on what's happening in Congress. And if you're worried, if you're hearing all this and you're going, well, wait, Rick, aren't you supposed to only do this after the census? No, you can do this anytime that you want. It's perfectly constitutional, absolutely legal. happens all the time. In fact, usually it happens because somebody challenges. I say, usually in the last 40 years, it's normally happened when somebody challenges and says, well, we don't have enough, you know, red, white, yellow, black or brown districts. In other words, they have a racist reason for redrawing. I think it's absolutely racist to draw your lines to try to make sure that you have a white representative or a black representative or. Or a brown representative or a red representative or whatever. I mean, that is racist. If you're drawing the lines to try to manipulate the outcome based on race. That is the very definition of racism. And that's the biggest mess in all of this. Redistricting and the census and all of that. They messed this up 50 years ago when even Republicans joined Democrats in saying, we're going to draw lines to make sure that you get a black or a white or red or whatever. And that's just wrong. Absolutely wrong. It was led by Democrats because they've always been the racist. But Republicans liked it because it packed Democrats into districts to guarantee a black or a brown or whatever. And then that allowed them to get additional Republican seats, because you were packing in all the, all the Democrats. So it's just been a bad, bad thing from day one. Okay, so Democrats mastered it. And honestly, you probably got a manipulated Congress right now to the tune of at least 20, maybe 30 seats that Democrats hold. That should be Republican seats. If you just had a fair representation both m of not voting for not having illegal aliens counted in the census, which you've probably heard a lot of that lately. That's been something we've been championing for 15 years and we're finally see in the day that it's gonna hopefully, be reversed. But also this manipulation through the redistricting process. And so the Democrats, it's really funny to listen to them whine and cry about what Texas is doing and threaten to go redraw the lines when in truth, they can't squeeze any more juice out of that man. There's nothing left for them in New York and Massachusetts. And in all these states where they've manipulated the process for so long, they might, they might pick up a seat or two in California because they have so much to play with in California. What do you have, 55 congressional seats there because of, it's so big, so much population. So they could possibly squeeze a couple extra Democrats out of, out of California, maybe even five. Let's say they counter Texas and they get five. Well, what's going to happen if Arkansas and Tennessee and Missouri and all these other red states that have, that haven't done this to the extent that we're talking about here? I think you could see a, an absolute net of 15 or 20 seats all the way across the board just based on redistricting, not even counting getting illegal aliens out of this thing. And so, you know, and again, getting illegal aliens out actually cuts both ways. Not only does it hurt Democrats because it spreads out that vote gets, you know, these blue cities where they've done sanctuary cities and invited illegals in, and, and they get to count them in the, in the enumeration and so they get more representation in Congress. Well, the trick is you take a state like Texas where you've got big blue cities like Houston and Dallas and San Antonio, and, and they've run those numbers up. Well, if, if you completely get rid of illegal aliens, Texas probably loses a couple of congressional seats because of the total population that you're not going to count in Texas, even though it was going to blue areas, and, and helping the Dems get more congressional seats, you actually have a net loss of congressional seats overall for Texas.
This could lead to a constitutional amendment clarifying who should be counted in enumeration
So you might find some Republicans fighting against this. I don't think they should. I think it's only fair, just and right to make sure that you're not counting illegals. And I think that's the clear intention of the Constitution. When it has the phrase Indians not taxed, that's essentially telling you that unless you're a citizen participating in the, the citizenship of that, of that area, you should not be counted in the enumeration. So likely, in the long run, this will all lead to a constitutional amendment clarifying who should be counted in the enumeration. But, that's, in the long run, that's going to take a convention of states, which I'm fighting for, for a lot of other reasons as well. But this would be one of the things that could get accomplished there. But, in the meantime, President Trump is going to the mat on this, as he should, and, I think it's gonna help.
Texas is trying to get rid of taxpayer, uh, paid lobbying
okay, so that's the Texas saga of redistricting and special sessions. There's some other good stuff actually happening in our special session. You know, we're trying to get rid of taxpayer, paid lobbying. this has been a problem again, since I was in the House. I had a whole, whole package, of really good bills that I was trying to pass 25 years ago that had to do with, with regulation without representation, which is where you have a city or a county or whoever that is, bleeding their regulation outside of, of their representation. In other words, for instance, you may live in the etj, the extraterritorial jurisdiction of a city. So, meaning you're not in the city limits, but you're within whatever in your state, the boundary is here in Texas, it can be up to five miles. If it's a big city, they get an ETJ of five miles around that city. it's insane. And think about that. That means now they're able to pass regulations on that land, telling people what they can do with their land. And those people have no voice. They can't vote for that city council, they can't vote for that mayor. And so it's a horrible thing. I tried to change it 25 years ago. I actually got it passed in the House. I lost it in the Senate because the big cities in Texas have a massive lobbying effort, and they spent millions. Even the city of Austin spent 1.4 million to try to stop my bills, and actually did end up stopping my bills because they had all these paid lobbyists that were out there working to kill the bill. So think about that. Taxpayers paid for those lobbyists to go Help the government keep more of its money and more of its power, the local government. And that's just wrong. So there's been a big effort to stop taxpayer funded lobbying here in Texas, but across the country as well. And, and that just may happen in this special session. We'll see if they get that through. And then they've got some other things that they're working on as well.
Rick Green says county judge delays vote on forming Constitution City, Texas
I'm kind of, I'm feeling a little salty today because of what may be the biggest shot across the bow for self government against self government that I've experienced in my lifetime. I've experienced this week without question, the greatest betrayal and stabbing in the back, politically, after 30 years of being in this, I've never experienced one this bad. And I'm gonna tell you a little bit more about it when we come back from the break, but I'll just give you a quick summary of it. You know, I've talked on the program a lot about us creating Constitution City Texas, which you would think everybody would be for teaching kids the Constitution. It's shocking to me that people would oppose this, but they do. and we've been fighting hard to get this done here in Texas. I haven't talked a lot about it, talked a little bit about it because most of this is, is, is behind the scenes. And it only affects our area where we're incorporating, which is, poetically 177.6 acres. And so it's basically the Patriot Academy campus becoming a city. And in Texas you get to do that. if you have a certain number of people and you, you're no bigger than a certain area and all this stuff. And so we've done all that and we met the statutory definition of inhabitants and all that good stuff. We did all this hard work over the last six months to make this happen. But unfortunately the county judge gets the final say on ordering the election. It's a ministerial act. You literally just present the data, show the judge, and then he's supposed to just sign the order to ha so that you can have the election. And you would of course want to err on the side of giving the people their voice and letting them choose, whether or not to be a city at an election. You have to have the people that live within the boundaries of that city are the ones that should decide and they have to vote for it, the ones that are registered voters. And everything was hunky dory, good to go. We actually judge did something that you don't have to do. But he brought it to a vote for the county commissioners, had a public hearing, wanted everybody to have a voice. I don't know why other people outside of the area that's gonna be Constitution City should have a voice. They shouldn't, but they got to. And it was all, everybody that testified was positive. The sheriff, everybody was like singing our praises, man, excited about Constitution City. And so the county commissioners voted. 5, 0 in favor. They voted for it, including the county judge. Voted for it, congratulated us on. I mean everybody's happy. We leave the courthouse a week ago ready to roll, man. All I'm waiting on is that order, that piece of paper that would be signed ordering the election to take place in November. And I am not kidding you, a week later, ah, in the final hour of the deadline for ordering the election, literally with an hour left before the deadline, I get notice from this county judge that he's just, he's changed his mind and now he says we're not even a community. I even sent him, sent him quotes from people whose lives have been changed because they live here and they're part of this community. you know, had sent that to him a week before and, and, and I just. Not a week, no, I'm sorry. There was that, it was that over that weekend. But anyway, I don't want to go into too much detail, but the bottom line is we got stabbed in the back and this politician changed his mind at the last minute. And so now Constitution City is delayed for a year, a full year. And so instead of Constitution City being birthed and happening and beginning in the 250th of the the country and us being able to build Independence hall and all the things we had planned within the city, we are now delayed for a whole year. So I'm feeling salty because this is anti civil government, anti self government and it's, and it's a bunch of politicians deciding for the people what they get to do or not do instead of us being able to self govern. So anyway, just a real negative, setback for Patriot Academy, for our county, for our state, for the country. But we are undeterred. We count it all joy when we experience various trials. And we're gonna get right back in this fight and we'll win in the long run. Stay with us. You're listening to At the Core with Walker Wildmon and Rick Green.
>> Jeff Chamblee: This is At the Core on American Family Radio with your host Rick Green.
>> Rick Green: Welcome back to Court with Walker Wildmon. And Rick Green. Thanks for staying with me. I'm Rick Green, America's Constitution coach. And, yeah, I may sound like I'm whining. I'm sorry, I shouldn't. I shouldn't sound whiny about it. I should sound, you know, if you're looking, if you're watching on camera, look into my eyes. Do I look undeterred? Do I look deterred? No. Undeterred. We're gonna get this done. I'm just a little bit. A little bit salty because it's an. It's a needless delay. now what it does do, it's. It's. It's always good when your, when your opposition has to out themselves, because in politics, people always play the game. Oh, yeah, we're with you, man. They pat you on the back and then the knives come out and they stab you in the back. And sometimes you don't know you, you. Or you can't prove that they're against you until they take a public stand against you. So. So in some ways that's good. it's. It's. Sometimes it's nice to, you know, to know who's. Who's with me, who's a gimme. You know, that's, that's always, one of those. That, That bugs me. I'm. I'm just not. I never liked those games. I'd rather just know right up front who's with me and who's against me and. And, you know, let's go. But in politics, it's usually muddy. And, so in a way, this helps us to know who's with us and who's against us. And we'll support those who are with us and oppose those who are against us. And, and, you know, we'll. We'll be a city. It'll either be on the ballot next May or next November, depending on a bunch of legal wrangling that has to take place now. But, we'll eventually get there. it's just sad that, Here's what's sad about it. It slows down the mission. And so when you know what the mission is and you do things to slow that down, that means you're against the mission. Because the mission is to save the country, to save the Republic, to educate people on the Constitution, to bring young people here and teach them how to be leaders. It's to raise up the generation that's going to actually restore biblical citizenship and restore good, good, policy that produces a Good nation. It's just restoring the secret sauce of America. It's literally making America great again. And I think that might be the problem. I think that might be the problem. There are people that actually don't want to make America great again. There are people that actually hate their own country and. Or they, or they buy into this mamsy pansy. You know, they don't want to be pro America because somehow that's putting somebody else down. They think patriotism is a bad thing. They think that somehow, you know, you're a. You're a. And they make up their terms, right? Like there's all kinds of headlines about Constitution City over the last week or so. Christian nationalist camp. That's all this junk, just total junk. They make up these terms. in fact, we, I had a little bit of fun last week. yeah, last week. No, week before last, when the opposition first started, which the opposition to us started, you know, really in earnest Just, just a few days before, this thing went. Went public for the, for the commissioner's court. and, and, and it was, you know, that it's definitely political games. It's definitely people that, that they don't like how conservative we are. They don't like how biblical we are. That's really what they dislike. They hate the fact that we do not shy away from our biblical foundations. they hate the fact that we call it biblical citizenship. And, so anyway, there was a bunch of nonsense that went out and false, information that went out about us. And so there was this group in the county that consider, themselves like a news organization. It's really just a couple of guys that have a podcast, and so they talk about whatever's going on in the area. and they posted a lot of this nonsense. And so, they reached out to me wanting to do an interview. And, I had noticed that a lot of their interviews, they don't show the whole thing. They chop it up and just show what they want, which, I mean, could be good, could be bad. I'm just getting to know these guys, so I don't know. I've heard that, it could be biased, right? so I said, sure, come out and do an interview. And of course, we had a big group here doing our military veterans program. And so when they came out, I said, hey, while you're here, why don't we go ahead and do a joint interview and I'll do my, my show, the Tavern, live from here in the House chamber with the audience, and you do you, you know, do your podcast, you record your podcast with me and we go live and then it's, you know, everything's out there. In other words, that way it couldn't be chopped up. And so we went live and had a great time, wonderful one hour conversation. And, and, and it actually turned out great. I mean, they, they asked genuine questions about things here.
Rick Green was asked about Christian nationalism and separation of church and state
This was part of what surprised me. And you may find this interesting as you're, as you're listening, if you listen to, At the Core or you listen to afr, on a regular basis to a lot of the programs on afr, then you are, you're, you're, you're an informed citizen that knows history and knows the foundations of the country in a way that 95% of Americans do not know. And so I was really, genuinely, I want to say surprised, but honestly I was, I was, I was actually happy with the fact that these guys asked me questions that I hadn't been asked in a long time about some of these basics. In other words, they asked me about things like separation of church and state. And genuinely they thought, you know, that what most people think about separation of church of state, they thought First Amendment separates church of state. You're not supposed to have religion and politics mixed. You're not supposed to express your faith in the public square because it violates the Constitution. I mean, that kind of stuff. And so by asking me that, you know, that's kind of, I mean, in my world that's like saying, you know, you asked me a question like that. I mean, I'm going to say hold my beer. Okay, not my beer. I'm gonna say hold my sparkling water or hold my coffee. But anyway, I m mean, that's like falling off a log for, you know, somebody that's been with David Barton and wall builders for 30 years. So I actually had a chance to educate these guys on the history of separation of church and state, of what the Constitution actually says, about what religious liberty actually means in America, and about the restoration of that with the Coach Kennedy case. And they were genuinely intrigued, at least at what it seemed like. And I think learned a lot from that. And then also the guy asked me, one of the guys asked me, you know, if I'm a Christian nationalist. And of course I always say when somebody asks that question, my immediate response is always, what do you mean? What do you mean by that? It's a scary sounding term and I don't know what it means. It's not a real term. It's not a Real description. It's not a, it's not a political party, it's not a real philosophy. it's a made up term. So I need to know what you mean by that. And the guy I mean, to his credit, he pulled out his notes and right there in his notes, on his piece of paper, he said, definition of Christian nationalist is people that believe that their rights and their freedoms come from God, not government. I'm like, again, you know, hold my coffee. Because I mean, what does Jefferson say in the Declaration of Independence, the founding document of the country, the document that we're all going to be celebrating for the next year and that next July will be the 250th birthday? What does he say? We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they're endowed by their. Not Congress, not the Supreme Court, not the Constitution. They're endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. Of course we believe that God is the source of our freedom. That's what made America different in the first place. That's what made America great and that is what will make America great again. And if you don't have that part, if you don't believe that God's the source of your freedom, if you think government's the source or you think your neighbor's the source, you're not going to make America great again. You're going to be part of destroying America and making America weak. And like Europe and like all these other nations that are falling apart. And George Washington's the first one to notice this. He's watching the French Revolution take place and he says in his farewell address, why are they not getting liberty like we have it? Because they left God out of the equation. He said it this way. He said, religion, morality, are indispensable supports of political prosperity. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism that would work to subvert these great pillars. Well, these people don't want to be patriotic, so I guess they're not claiming to be patriots, but some people used to do that. in my 30 years I run into a lot of people that, and frankly some of the people that are opposing Constitution City would fit this kind of libertarian mindset of, oh, I'm all for America being great, I'm all for being patriotic, but I just don't want God in the equation. You always have to talk about the Bible, Rick, why you bring God and the Bible into this? So see, they want, they want that separation of godly values, separation of Christian values from the culture. And George Washington, the father of the country, the founder of the country, said if you do that, you're no patriot because you're undermining the very thing that makes America great in the first place. Religion and morality, indispensable supports. So I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that this guy asked me that question. I, I love the fact that we were live. If you want to see the whole, in fact, you can watch the whole interview. It's on my on my Facebook page. So go to Patriot Rick Green on, on Facebook. Or you can go to my, my X page and and they're on X. same thing. You can, you can watch the whole thing. It's Rick GreenTX on X. That's my X handle, Rick Green TX, of course, for Texas. anyway, so that it was, it was kind of cool to, to have that interview, to have these guys asking these genuine questions and, and to just get to have a back and forth civil discourse. You know, I've said for a long time you're either going to have civil discourse or civil war. Because when you don't talk, when you don't discuss, when you don't debate, when you don't get down and understand why somebody else believes the way they believe and they give you a chance to explain why you believe what you believe, when you don't do that, you just end up hating each other to the point that you ultimately end up in blows or guns or war. And so no civil discourse, you're going to end up in civil war. So I love having civil discourse with people that I don't agree with. And these guys that came over and did this interview with me, you know, we disagree on a lot of stuff. I mean, one of them definitely doesn't think we should be deporting illegals and all this stuff. And so the other one disagrees on, I think, some of the Bible foundation stuff. And so we don't see eye to eye on maybe most things, but we had a great discussion, a good civil discourse discussion. It was very educational for all, I think. And I can't remember why I got off. Oh, I know, because the undermining of Constitution City, this was part of it. It was part of that effort to make people think things about us that aren't true. and so anyway, we'll regroup and we'll be back and we'll end up with the Constitution City before it's over. In the meantime, we're still going to be able to do most of our programs. We're going to be slowed down a lot because now we just have all these regulatory nightmares. and again, what I say at the beginning of today's show, I mean it really comes to self governance. Self governance is a lost art in America and if we don't restore it, we will not restore the republic. You can't have a constitutional republic without self governance. It falls apart. You're going to have tyranny, you're going to have micromanage tyranny. It may not look like a, you know, Stalin or Hitler type tyranny, but it's going to be a tyranny by a thousand cuts, by, by regulatory tyranny, by politicians that think they know best for you, that think that they can save you from yourself or save you from your neighbors. And so these politicians that have that mindset of not being for self government, therefore government by them, they think they know better than everybody else and they want to use the power of government to tell you what to do with your land, to tell you where to put your driveway, to tell you how to, how to build your houses. They want to tell you how you can raise your children. They certainly want to tell you about your health care and micromanage your healthcare for you and force you to take all these jabs. And you know, that's just the M mindset. And so if you don't self govern, if you don't if you don't have a constitution that protects self government, if you don't elect people that trust you to self govern, which means you're going to mess up, which means people are going to do stupid things, people are going to hurt themselves. In fact sometimes people are going to do things that cause them to lose their life or sometimes cause other people to lose their life. That happens in a self governed, actually it happens in all governed areas. It happens in tyranny as well, but it's going to happen in self government as well. You cannot stop stupidity and you cannot stop people from making mistakes. The real question is will they live with the consequences of their decisions or will they have to live with the consequences of your decisions? That's what it really boils down to. Ronald Reagan used to have this great quote that if we're not capable of governing ourselves, then who among us is capable of governing everybody else? That's, that's the real rub here.
High minded politicians are against self governance
That's the real problem with being against self governance. That's the real problem with these high minded politicians. That think they know better than everybody else and want to tell them how to live their lives. No one is capable of that. And so then they end up making mistakes and doing stupid things like Foushee did, shutting down the country, making you wear a mask that's not doing any good for you. Making you get a jab that's actually harming you more than it's helping you. So they end up as the government power making the decision. And then we live with the consequence of their decision instead of living with the consequence of our own decisions. I say you should make the decisions for yourself. I should make the decisions for myself. And we live with the consequences of that. And if I mess up, or if I, just take Patriot Academy, if I put in roads that, that, that, that fall apart, I have to pay to replace those roads or I have to lose people wanting to come to Patriot Academy because there's too many potholes or the, roads fall apart. I mean, that, that should be us deciding that, not some government entity. We should be the ones to decide how many houses we're going to put on our property. We should be the ones to decide where we're gonna put the septic tanks and those kind of things. And if it doesn't work and it smells bad, we end up living with that. And if it's so bad that it floats in the air over to the neighbor's house, then they can sue us for nuisance. And we have to fix it in order to not harm them. Which obviously, if it's that bad, we're gonna fix it so that people will still want to come to Patriot Academy. I mean, that's what this all boils down to is this high minded. I know better than you. And so I'm gonna prevent you from making a mistake, but I'm gonna, make your life so miserable that you're just gonna decide not to build anything in the first place. That's what's happening in all over America. People are just deciding not to start the business. They're deciding not to build the house, they're deciding not to do the addition. They get so frustrated with the micromanaging of government that it's an albatross around the neck of the economy of America. And it's a miracle that we still have any entrepreneurship at all. And it's a testament to the American spirit that despite all of these, these, these efforts to stop people from being able to live their dream, we still have enough entrepreneurship and enough people living out their dream that America is Still prosperous and still does better than most places. Not like we used to. We used to be way beyond everybody else because we didn't have, this nanny state and government trying to micromanage us. If we could get the boot of government off the neck of the American people, our economy would skyrocket. You would see entrepreneurship like crazy. You would see progress. You would see people, risking and losing sometimes and then winning sometimes. And that's the spirit that made America great in the first place. So do you want America to be great again or not? If you don't, then just keep doing this. No self government. It's all about civil government instead of self government. We even use that terminology. My friend Paul Blair is a pastor out of Oklahoma, and I was just doing a Liberty, pastors event with him a couple days ago and I was watching his presentation and it was so good. And he said it's not civil government. Everybody thinks government's all about civil government. No, it starts with self government and then it's family government government and then it's church government and then it's civil government. We should be making most of the decisions ourselves. And then out to the family and then out to the church and the in the neighborhood and then you have county government and, or city and county and state and federal government. That's the way it used to work in America. We got to get it back to that. We inversed it. We let the government decide all this stuff for us and it's created a mess and it's of kind to take us turning it around at the local level. That's why Rebuilding Liberty is all about you and I taking local action steps. So maybe this loss of Constitution City or delay for a year will help us do that. We're going to do more local government. We'll set the example for you and then you do it in your home, in your neighborhood. All right, we'll be right back. You're listening to At the Core

Every policy debate, every piece of legislation comes down to who decides
>> Rick Green: We're back here on At the Core with Walker Wildmon and Rick Green RICK Green America's Constitution Coach and we've, been talking about self governance today. You know, this, this question, who decides? That's how we teach our Patriot Academy students. We, I mean, we teach them all, you know, obviously a lot of history and constitution and biblical perspective and all those things. But it really, you can boil it down to that, that question, who decides? Every policy debate, every piece of legislation, every decision by a public servant, it comes down to who decides. So if you're, if you're passing a bill to create some sort of licensing, for, Well, let's take an absurd example. We have licensing for being able to braid hair. Yeah, you got to get a license, you got to go to some sort of beautician school to be able to braid hair. And the government is not going to let you do that until you go through this program that, of course the people that benefit and profit from the school you got to go to to be able to do this are the ones that push through the legislation. And the other people that braid hair that already have the license, of course they want that legislation to pass because now there's fewer people that can braid hair. There's fewer competition, fewer people that are going to compete with them in their neighborhood. Right. Okay, so if you have to have a license to braid hair, or let's say you're going to create that, let's say you see this in another state and you think this is a good thing, so as a legislator, you're going to pass it. Well, what you're doing with that legislation is you're changing the answer to the question, who decides where you can go to get your hair braided? The answer to that used to be and should be you decide. So if your cousin braids hair really well and, and only charges, you know, whatever, I don't. What do they charge for braid? I don't even know what they charge anyway. Why did I pick braiding hair? I must be losing my mind. Anyway, this was a, this was actually a fight here in Texas a few years ago. That's why. so. So you, if your cousin does that and charges 10 bucks or 20 bucks or whatever, and you want to go to them, they want and pay them 20 bucks to do that, then that should be the answer to the question, who decides where you go to braid your hair? Should be you. And who decides whether or not they want to be in the business of braiding hair? Should be the Person that's deciding whether or not they want to be in the business to braid hair. But when you pass this legislation, now who decides? Some government agency, some nameless, faceless bureaucrat is now going to decide whether or not you check all the boxes with your braiding hair education. Hair braiding education, whatever. And so now we create another bureaucracy and another government employee that gets to decide the fate of your hair. Okay, that sounds silly, sounds ridiculous. But now multiply that and, and move that into every area of your life. Making clothes, painting a car, doing mechanic work, doing, you name it. I mean, now we license everything and that moves the decision making power over to a bureaucrat. Now think about it in the same way. Who decides whether or not you should be able to build a guest house on your property for your mother in law or your, your son who's getting married and they want to, they want to live next door to you and be on the same property and be able to spend time and raise their grandkids right next door to you. Who should decide whether or not you can build that guest house next to your house or add on to your house or, even if you want to add three of those guest houses, maybe you want to have all your kids. I used to have a great family compound in Dripping Springs, Texas. Carrie and I built. We spent 30 years building up that place. And we were very, very blessed to have all four of our kids living there. Grandkids right there. Come over and play with Gigi and Poppy every day. I mean, it was awesome. We moved only for the purpose of the Patriot Academy mission. Saving the Republic became important enough that we gave up everything that we had built for decades to move it to a 600 square foot cottage. I know that sounds crazy, but we did it. And so you can imagine we threw away a lot of stuff. Gave a lot of stuff to Goodwill. Yeah. anyway, but we. So we gave up the family family compound to do that. But I'm just telling you it was a blessing to have that. So if you wanted to do that, depending on where you live in the country, you would not get to just decide to do that. Even if you had the money to build that little, you know, 600 square foot or thousand square foot guest house for mom in law or kids or whatever. You don't get to just do that. No, no, no, no. You got to go ask permission of your government overlords. You got to go. You got to go lay out all your plans for them and let some nameless, faceless bureaucrat engineer tell you whether or not your plans meet their requirements for what your kids should live in or your mother in law should live in. And if they don't, you get to go redraw them again. And you may have to add all kinds of stuff to your, your little guest house that you were going to build to meet the bureaucrats requirements for you instead of what's actually best for you and your family. And I know you might be out there saying yeah, but what if somebody doesn't know what they're doing and they, and they build a house that has leaky plumbing? okay, okay, well what if, what if that happens? Who lives with the consequence of that? The people that built the house, the people that are using the house, they're the ones that live with the consequence with that. They're the ones that have to fix it. They're the ones that will care more than anyone else on the planet that that plumbing is good. I care more about my property than anyone else on the planet. In fact, I would argue that the bureaucrat down at the county cares nothing about my property. They have no stake in whether or not the plumbing works. And so who should decide? Them or me? Me or you? If it's your property, you should decide. If it's my property, I should decide. Just put this into any area of your life folks and ask the question who decides? Now are there times when government should decide? Absolutely. Absolutely. I'm not saying there should be no government. And the answer to the question who decides? Should never be government. I mean government should decide whether or not we go to war. That's why the Constitution specifically gives Congress the power to declare war. there's times when your local government absolutely should decide the quality of the roads if the public is going to drive on that. So if we're all going to drive on a particular road and it's going to be open to the public, it's going to be used by anyone and everyone. Absolutely. The government should decide the psi and of the gravel and the rock and all of those things and make sure that that road has some standard that the people in that community agree is required for a road like that. Now in some areas that requirement should be a lot lower so that you have more roads to be able to get to ranches and that sort of thing. And so they're not going to have the, you know, the most expensive, road necessary. And in other areas it should be nicer because the traffic is going to be, I mean you get what I'M saying here, I mean, these decisions, rational and people that, that live ah, in a rational society and a free society, they ramp up the decision making to, to you know, a larger group of people depending on how many people it's going to affect.
Government regulation is unnecessary and harmful to entrepreneurship
So if it's me and my family, we should be the ones deciding if it's my neighborhood, you know, the people that live in my neighborhood and it's not affecting anybody else, it should be us deciding. And then if it's going to affect the neighbors, then we should bring them in on the decision making. You see, the whole concept of self government is the reason we had so much progress and success and an amazing ingenuity and desire to risk and have reward. I mean, that only happens in a self governing society. And the more you get away from self governance, the more you choke out that entrepreneurial, creative spirit, which means everybody loses. Everybody loses when that happens. I have talked to so many people that just gave up. They just got tired of dealing with the nightmare. And I will tell you, there have absolutely been days where I have thought, you know what, forget it, I'm done. It's not worth it anymore. The hoops we're having to jump through the hundreds of thousand dollars, more than a million. This decision to not let us become Constitution City will cost more than a million dollars to Patriot Academy over the next year. As we build things out, the people that continue to pursue their dream despite the government choking of that dream, hats off to you. And I'm having to tap into that deep desire to fulfill the purpose that God has called us to despite the opposition and the hurdles. And I fully expect that kind of stuff. I mean, that's why very few people do things like a Disney or a, you know, whatever. It's because you have to overcome a lot of those things. And so I fully expect that. I'm not shocked by that, but I'm worried for our country and I'm thankful that President Trump gets this. You know, he actually talked about this in a lot of his early executive orders back in January and February. There's several fantastic paragraphs where he described exactly what I'm talking about, where government regulation and the cost of building even pointed out that I believe it was 32% of the cost of a home right now is, is, is unnecessary regulation. Just think about that. A, third of the cost of your home. So if you bought a $300,000 home, $100,000 of what you're paying for that home was government over regulation. And that, and I know that to be true for all kinds of things that are being built. Think about your car, government. Deciding whether or not your car shuts down at the red light every time you stop is absurd. I'm so thankful that President Trump has pointed out the absurdity of that and saying, this is, this is going away. We're getting rid of this, this stop and start thing. For that was government. That was government for. No one asked for that. Or maybe some, some environmental wacko out there that actually thought it was going to save the planet, which is absurd, but they thought that would be the case. Maybe they asked for it and wanted it. Okay, fine. Well, then you build your own car that does that. Or you convince a car company to do it because you say you have enough people that will buy it. Don't go to government and get government to force the car companies to do that. That's what's been happening, folks. That's why your car costs so much, because of government requirements on the car, not because of all the ingenuity in the car. And anyway, you can, you can apply this to everything in life. And I don't think this changes unless enough of us wake up. President Trump's doing everything he can at the federal level to stop as much of the madness as possible. And I think he will roll back some of that. But three years from now, he's gone. He's no longer president. And even if J.D. vance becomes president or another Republican becomes president again, the pendulum will swing. The whiners will be in charge again, and the do gooders and the nanny state will be back. Unless we change this at the local level and we grow up and stop asking government to save us and to micromanage our lives. And we once again instill in our children a sense of self respect and self governance and a desire to self govern and to not have government take care of us at every little whim and every little turn. That's the only way it's going to change long term. It's got to be local. So I guess in a way I should count it all, Joy, when I experience various trials, because God is using that to teach me patience, also to persevere and to make us perfect and complete, lacking nothing. And so I'm going to do that today. I'm going to count it all, Joy that I was stabbed in the back by this cowardly politician and that it is now causing us to shift our focus to more of our local government so that we will create a renaissance right here. In our backyard of self governance and it'll set an example for people all over the country. We were already laying out the education for this in rebuilding Liberty. We're already talking about restoring property rights, restoring parental rights. I mean all of these things are self governance steps. So we were already doing that at the national level and getting a lot of other organizations to do that. But we, you know, frankly just didn't have the time to focus on the local level and doing it at the local level. But now you got my attention. Now local government has my full attention. And so we're going to shift our focus to making sure that self governance is revived at the local level right where we are. Constitution City will set the example for this. Unfortunately, we're going to have to broaden our scope to be more than just Constitution City at the local level. And it'll be good for the country because we'll set the example right here. Self governance is going to happen again, certainly in our community, in our county and in our state of Texas. I hope you'll do the same in your community, in your state. if you haven't signed up to do Rebuilding Liberty, go to patriotacademy.com today. Get signed up as a coach or host. It begins with education. Everything I'm talking about right now is education of the individual to understand what self governance is and start fighting for that, for themselves and actually taking that responsibility. Don't forget the parable of the talents. Don't forget that the reason the one servant was called wicked and slothful was because they did not take responsibility. They weren't willing to self govern. They checked out of the game, they buried the talent and did not want to self govern and go risk and have reward and have to live with the consequences of that. We're not going to be the wicked and slothful servant. We're going to be like those other two servants. We're going to take what God has given us, this incredible gift of freedom and we're going to live it out and we're going to double down on making sure that we are being good stewards of what we've been given, which means self governing, not giving someone else the ability to make all the decisions for us. And we're going to teach people how to do that at the local level. We're going to do it ourselves at the local level. But I'm asking you to be a part of that solution. Begin to self govern today. If we're going to rebuild Liberty, one of Those bricks, maybe the most important brick for it to work is self governance. Now, you got to know how to do that biblically. You got to be a biblical citizen to self govern. You got to be a biblical citizen to treat your neighbor the way that you want to be treated. You got to be a biblical citizen to understand why it's wrong to steal and murder and lie and all the other things that we used to teach with the Ten Commandments. Probably should have talked about that. those local judges shutting down the Ten Commandments efforts in Arkansas. Well, they didn't shut them down. They're delaying it, just like they're delaying Constitution City. but they're, but they're delaying getting the Ten Commandments back in the classroom.
Rick Green: Get educated and become a part of the solution
That's okay. Hey, we're ready. We're. We're ready. We'll win those battles as well. But you got to get educated. You got to get equipped. You got to know what you're fighting for. So patriotacademy.com get signed up for our Rebuilding Liberty courses. Become a Constitution coach and become a part of the solution. Walker Wildmon will be with you tomorrow and on Monday, and then I'll be back with you on Tuesday. Have a fantastic rest of your week. I'm Rick Green.
